With Halloween coming up soon, a spooky new event has kicked off in the world of The Elder Scrolls Online. "The Witches Festival," as it's known, runs all month long, Bethesda announced in a blog post.

As part of the event, Tamriel will welcome demonologists, conjurors, lamias, warlocks, and thaumaturgists, who will take part in incantations, invocations, and conjurations to celebrate the season.

To take part, players need to pick up the free Crow Caller item from the game's Crown store. After using the item, a quest called "The Witchmother's Bargain" will show up. Completing this quest gives you the ability to create The Witchmother's Cauldron (using an item called the Witchmother's Whistle), which you and anyone in your group can use to morph your character into a zombie. This only lasts for two hours, but you can use it as many times as you want until the end of the event on November 1.

When in zombie form, you have the chance to obtain Plunder Skulls after killing boss monsters. These skulls contain Halloween-themed items such as masks, recipes, and a Hollowjack crafting motif. After the event concludes, you can keep the Witchmother's Whistle, but it won't have any powers.

The Elder Scrolls Online isn't the only game celebrating Halloween. Earlier this week, Blizzard released new Halloween skins, sprays, and poses for Overwatch. Epic's Paragon is also celebrating with special event called "Shadow's Eve." Bungie has teased that more seasonal events are coming to Destiny, one of which might be themed around Halloween.

The Elder Scrolls Online is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
