Slice and dice in style.

As with most of From Software's lineup of role-playing games, Elden Ring features no shortage of callbacks to previous games. Among these is the famous Uchigatana katana weapon, which has long-since been a favorite among Souls fans. In this guide, we'll point you in the direction of its location so you can find and wield it for yourself, you ninja.

Uchigatana explained

The Uchigatana is a katana that requires 11 Strength and 15 Dexterity to wield. While it's not necessarily the best katana in the game, it nevertheless remains a solid option for nearly any type of build, especially those which specialize in blood loss buildup.

The default weapon skill for the Uchigatana is Unsheathe, which places the sword in its tabard and then unleashes it very quickly for an aggressive, high damage attack. This makes it very useful as an opener on unsuspecting enemies.

The Uchigatana's item description reads:

A katana with a long single-edged curved blade. A unique weapon wielded by the samurai from the Land of Reeds. The blade, with its undulating design, boasts extraordinary sharpness, and its slash attacks cause blood loss.

Where to find the Uchigatana

The Samurai starting class begins the game with Uchigatana, but for everyone else, it's still the easiest and earliest katana you can acquire. It can be found in the Deathtouched Catacombs, which is located in northern Limgrave.

From the dungeon's Site of Grace, follow the linear path down past the first skeleton you see, and then follow the nearby stairs down into a wider area. To the right of the stairs is an alcove featuring a small and moderately hidden door that you can enter.

After entering the door beside the stairs, simply follow the path forward and turn left through the next door. In this room, you'll find the Uchigatana on a corpse and will now be ready to put the smackdown on the rest of the dungeon.
