Elden Ring's First DLC Is Shadow Of The Erdtree

Get ready to be The Tarnished again.

Elden Ring is getting its first DLC called Shadow of the Erdtree, according to a surprise announcement by the game's official Twitter account. Shadow of the Erdtree is "currently in development," and there's no known release date yet. The expansion will come to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

That's pretty much all we know about the DLC right now. Details about the expansion's price and content are not available currently, though the artwork in the tweet could include some hints as to what expect.

A DLC for Elden Ring has been eagerly anticipated and expected for a long time, as past From Software games like Bloodborne have received expansions--but From Software's stayed fairly quiet on the topic until now. The studio did release various patches post-release, mostly aimed at fixing issues and adding more PvP elements, like the free Colosseum update where players can fight in solo or multiplayer duels.

Elden Ring was a massive hit in 2022, selling more than 20 million copies right before its one-year anniversary. It was also anointed as GameSpot's Game of the Year in 2022 and swept awards across other industry events.
