Tomb Raider maker says that its 1999 financial results will be lower than expected.

Eidos plc, the parent company of Eidos Interactive, has announced that its end of quarter results for the last quarter, ending December 31, 1999, will be announced on February 28, 2000. The company states that its results will be lower than expected.

The company says that while Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation and Championship Manager 99/00 sold well, sales of F1 World Grand Prix (PS), Urban Chaos (PC), Omikron: The Nomad Soul, and Abomination were fewer than expected. Part of the blame, says the company, is that games like F1 World Grand Prix (PS), Urban Chaos (PC), and Fighting Force 2 (Dreamcast, PS) shipped later than expected, and that F1 World Grand Prix (PC), Urban Chaos (PS), and Daikatana (PC) were pushed back to a March 31, 2000, release.

Eidos expects to release 25 titles over the next 12 months, with sequels to UEFA Champions League, Commandos, Thief, Gangsters, and Final Fantasy VII. Also, the company states that it is already working on new iterations of Tomb Raider, Championship Manager, and Soul Reaver. Over the holidays, the company saw increased sales of Dreamcast and Game Boy Color titles. It plans to support the PlayStation2 within the next 18 months with seven titles, currently under development.
