EA's Not-FIFA FC 24 Gets An Announcement Trailer, And What Horrors Has Pirlo Seen?

The next entry in the series formerly known as FIFA has a new announcement trailer, and it seems that Italian Andrea Pirlo has seen some bad stuff on the pitch.

We've known that the next soccer game from EA isn't called FIFA for a while now, and now the entry titled EA Sports FC 24 has received a reveal trailer to get you pumped for the pitch. The trailer promises a "closer" experience than previous entries in the recently renamed series, and also that a full gameplay reveal is coming on July 13.

EA also showed off the game's Ultimate Edition cover, and it turns out that version of the game's cover star is, well, all of them, as it features more than two dozen notable soccer players and coaches. However, it seems that Italian soccer legend (and current coach) Andrea Pirlo has seen some real nasty stuff, at least judging by the thousand-yard stare he's sporting. Perhaps he's spotted Cthulhu on the pitch.

A rumor from earlier this month claimed that the game's standard edition will have 22-year-old Manchester City striker Erling Halland as its cover star, and it's not clear if this is the case yet. However, given that the same rumor correctly predicted that the Ultimate Edition would have many stars on its cover, it seems to have some level of credence. Another rumor stated that the game's release date is September 29, which is usually when previous games in the series would come out, but as usual, take that with a grain of salt.
