EA's New College Football Game May Not Launch Until 2023
New documents suggest that EA won't release the new game until July 2023.
EA Sports is working on a new college football game, but don't expect it to be released anytime soon. New documents that have been unearthed suggest that the next-gen game might not release until July 2023. None of this is confirmed, however.
Reporter Matt Brown obtained records from the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) through an Open Records request that state EA Sports plans to launch the game in July 2023.
The documentation that Brown obtained also includes numerous other details about the proposal to make new college football games. You can subscribe to read it.

According to internal documentation from CLC that I obtained via Open Records request, the CLC told FBS institutions that EA Sports intends to release the new video game in "July of 2023".
EA announced its new college football game--which will be called EA Sports College Football--back in February. At the time, the company said development on the title was only just getting started, so it is no surprise that it likely won't release for another two-plus years.

I obtained a copy of the EA Sports College Football video game sent to FBS schools. It includes a proposed release date, info about roster customization, DLC, and other stuff consumers might be interested in:https://t.co/62cUhNaniK
There will be more than 100 teams in the game, and their logos, stadiums, uniforms, and gameday traditions will be replicated in the game. However, due to ongoing lawsuits and other legal matters, there won't be student names, images, and likenesses. In fact, EA is not working with the NCAA at all on the new game, which is why the "NCAA Football" branding is going away.
Not every college football institution is eager to participate in EA's new game, as the iconic football school Notre Dame recently announced it won't be part of the title, at least not under the current proposal.
The latest NCAA Football game was 2013's NCAA Football 14. A sequel was in development, but was canceled in September 2013 amid EA's lawsuit settlement with former collegiate players.
EA's contract with the NCAA for college football games was also terminated that year. Though EA later signed a deal with the Collegiate Licensing Company for more college football games, per the terms of the agreement, no future EA college football games can use the NCAA's name or associated marks.
According to ESPN, EA is developing the new college football game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but the publisher has yet to make any official announcements.
