An early ski season may be doom to sun-loving citizens, but snow bunnies love an extra few days to shred the slopes. Electronic Arts is doing its best to please the virtual variety of skiers and snowboarders by moving up the release date of it multiplatform extreme sports game SSX on Tour. The game, previously jumping from an October 25 to an October 18 date, will now hit stores on October 14, according to EA's SSX on Tour Web site.

[UPDATE] However, if one goes straight to EA itself, an even earlier date is thawed out. One EA rep told GameSpot that the date will actually be October 11. No reason was given for the push in date.

The extreme sports game adds skiing to the familiar mix of freestyle and high-speed snowboarding and will be available for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PSP. In the game, players create a character and can send the character flying down a mountain and can pull off insane tricks while passing the masses who should be riding the bunny slopes.

SSX on Tour is rated E10+ for Everyone Ten and Older and will retail for $39.99, except the $49.99 PSP version. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's recent Q&A with producer Steve Anthony.
