EA Reveals Need For Speed No Limits

Real Racing 3 studio handling iOS and Android project.

Electronic Arts has revealed the latest project in its longstanding Need For Speed series, in development for smartphones and tablets.

Need for Speed No Limits, due to launch some time in 2015, is being developed by the Melbourne, Australia based studio Firemonkeys. Key features have yet to be announced, though a representative for the studio said No Limits has been built from scratch "to deliver the insanely-fast driving and incredible graphics that fans have come to expect from Need for Speed--all in the palm of your hand."

Firemonkeys was the outcome of a merger, which took place in 2012, between two EA development studios in Australia. The group was responsible for Real Racing 3, a popular and highly polished racing game that stirred controversy due to its free-to-play mechanics.

It is not clear yet whether No Limits will be a free-to-play title.

"The team at Firemonkeys has also been bringing Need for Speed to mobile gamers for years, and it’s an honor and a privilege to once again get behind the wheel of this incredible franchise and redefine street racing on mobile," read a post on the EA blog.

"We're constantly amazed by the power and performance we're able to get out of the latest phones and tablets and think you will be too."

A trailer for the new racer can be found above, with new artwork published below.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> I can agree with that.I mean take Most Wanted 2012,the game had pottential but the controls ruined the game since the cars moved like tanks and the game needed smooth controls like Burnout Paradise.

In case you haven't noticed,NFS games usually follow the Fast and Furious movies, first Underground absed on the first movie, second underground on the 2fast 2 furious and carbon followed Tokyo Drift with the whole Canyon duels, don't know where Most Wanted 2005 fits in but it was a great game.

Newer fast and furious movies are not as "colored" as the first 2 with the underground life, let alone EA trying too hard to make the game as realistic as possible with the whole car damage and shit which I hate,I still love the old NFS over the new ones.

It actually very happy about this. RR3 plays great. Racing games translate very well to touch and tilt controls and there is a very limited number of high quality games on phones.

I hope this isn't the only NFS game next year. They skipped their yearly release this year so i have good expectations for next year. It would be the best thing ever if they announced Underground 3! But in that case it must retain everything that made the originals good, not just a title slapped on a generic racing game like they did with the new Most Wanted!

<< LINK REMOVED >> Well, you're missing out then. There are few mobile games that do actually provide quality experiences.
On Android, those are very very few.
Real Racing 3 was one of the only ones I found. Firemonkey are no slouches. The quality of this game will be incredible in every respect. Its graphics will be fantastic, there will be great depth and fun gameplay. I can assure you that cars will be a joy to behold/ drive. That was the case with RR3 (maybe that was because that game was more of a sim game for mobiles). The quality of their games are incredible.

I'm a PC gamer (high end PC masterrace reporting), and I've also played lots of console. Not all mobile games are bad. This is one of the few that won't be.

Not to mention, driving games fit perfectly on mobile, since they control so well. I just hope they have a manual acceleration option in this game like there was in Real Racing 3. Made such a huge difference. Driving on auto accelerate feels retarded to me now.

Pretty ironic that a game called "No limits" is going on mobiles, which are pretty limited.

Not really. If you actually played good games, you'd know just how compelling they can be.
RR3 is prettymuch the only good mobile game on Android. Most of the good ones are only on iOS, while Android gets all the lame shooters.
RR3 is basically a sim game for mobile (if you turn off assists and switch to manual acceleration, which is absolutely necessary xD ) with incredible graphics, gameplay and depth. The quality of the core game is mindblowing (seriously, you'd be surprised just how realistic this thing is, and how much attention to detail there is) . As a result, owning good cars in this game is amazing. Its like car heaven - a watered down version of simulation games on PC and consoles that you can carry in your pocket.

RR3 knows it does cars well, and its proud of the fact. Doesn't hurt that it looks that good either. The cars are a joy just to look at, let alone drive from the fully modelled interior view, with realtime shadowing across the interior, and realistic materials and shaders, reflecting everything to their own degree.

NFS No Limits is going to be fantastic, that I can tell for sure. Its going to be a quality experience with unquestionable graphical prowess, great gameplay that has lots of depth.
I'm a PC gamer btw. Highend PC masterrace and whatnot. Played lots of console too, love their exclusives. So I know what quality experience is, in terms of graphics and gameplay. Some mobile games do actually provide that, regardless of what people say.
