The new football season is almost upon the hordes of faithful fans, and just as the sport is referred to as the world game, FIFA 09 will feature a healthy range of flavours from across the globe. Acts slated to lend their tunes hail from regions such as Europe, the USA, South America, and Australia, resulting in a squad of 41 tracks from 21 nations.

This year, the UK has the largest contingent, represented by an assorted flavour of pop, dance, indie, and alternative rock, with Scotland's The Fratellis and Ireland's The Script, as well as England's The Ting Tings, Kasabian, The Kooks, Foals, and Welsh songstress Duffy included in the mix. As has been the case in recent years, there's a solid lineup of electronic acts including CSS, Cut Copy, Datarock, Hot Chip, Ladytron, and frequent EA collaborator Junkie XL.

Almost as diverse as football fans themselves, the game will be available in 18 languages across 37 countries worldwide. FIFA 09 will be kicking off on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo DS on October 3, and North America on October 14 (with FIFA 09 landing on the Wii October 28).
