Electronic Arts has announced a new action adventure title called Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. As the last free Tasmanian tiger, Ty is charged with freeing the rest of the Tasmanian tiger population, who have all been trapped in an alternate dimension known as Dreamtime. The gameplay revolves around collecting five stolen talismans that will open a portal to Dreamtime when they are all collected. The game's main enemy is a cassowary known as Boss Cass.

The game will take the player through a number of different locations, such as a rainforest, snow-covered mountains, billabongs, the outback, and the Great Barrier Reef. The game will feature minigame-like boss encounters, and Ty will have several moves at his disposal, including the ability to swim, glide, and attack with his teeth and an upgradeable boomerang.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger is being developed by Australia-based Krome Studios, whose past games include Sunny Garcia Surfing for the PS2. The game is scheduled for release this fall for the PlayStation 2 and the GameCube . Click on the links to the right to see the first screenshots from both versions of the game.
