E3 No Shows

In the see and be seen world of E3, a few titles were noticeably absent from the show floor.

Comments

If anything, E3 is a see and be seen world. However, the following titles were conspicuously absent from this year E3 show:

Shadowman: Acclaim's second foray into its own comic licenses was left at home. This dark PlayStation/PC title was originally to be shown behind closed doors at the company's booth.

Earthworm Jim 3D: A 3-D treatment of the popular platform game series, Earthworm Jim 3D was apparently not playable for any of its PlayStation, Nintendo 64, or PC versions.

Bio Freaks: Midway's upcoming 3-D arcade/home system fighter was not present in any form whatsoever.

Robo 64: The Nintendo take on last year's Midway PlayStation release, Robotron X, wasn't seen at the Midway display, even though at last call it had been slated for an August release. This one feels tardy.

Rollerball: A futuristic PlayStation sports game that will have to been seen sometime later in the future, Rollerball was reportedly still too early in development to be shown at MGM's booth.

Maximum Gauge: MGM Interactive's sci-fi RPG has been pushed back until next year and wasn't on hand for play.

Return Fire II: Though this 3-D upgrade to Return Fire look extremely promising on the PC, the PlayStation version of the game was not on display in the MGM area.

Metal Gear Solid: Though Konami insiders told E3 News that the title was in development, a Nintendo 64 version of Metal Gear Solid was not present at the show. Up until now, it's been seen in PlayStation form only.

Tekken 3: Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the show was that Namco did not have a PlayStation version of Tekken 3 in videotape or even screenshot form. Seems we'll have to wait until Shoshinkai. Sorry, kids, this looks like one 3-D fighter you won't be getting for Christmas.
