Art will take center stage at the upcoming E3 Expo. Yes, art. But we're not talking Da Vinci or Picasso. A joint project of E3 Expo, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, and the Graphic Arts Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art will showcase art drawn from the world of computer and console game development.

Into the Pixel, a juried competition and subsequent gallery show, is solicitiing submissions taken from published, or soon to be published, computer and video games. A gallery of winning entries will be set up at the Los Angeles Convention Center during the E3 trade show and will be open to attendees as well as the general public.

Into the Pixel is one of the events designed to celebrate the tenth year anniversary of E3. Its goal is to explore and highlight the achievements of game-related artists, and give their work greater prominence.

The jury panel include David Perry, president of Shiny Entertainment; Jason Rubin, Co-president of Naughty Dog; Jim Heimann, Editor-in-Charge at Taschen; Billy Shire, the owner of Los Angeles' La Luz de Jesus Gallery, and Mat Gleason, founder of the Coagula Art Journal.

Submissions for competition are limited to three original works per entrant and must be received by April 5, 2004. Questions regarding the competition can be directed to pixelquestions@e3expo.com.
