As promised, the $399 Kinect-free Xbox One is now available at retailers around the world. Just last week, the company launched a new advertisement campaign for the system, enlisting the help of Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul to promote the system.

Microsoft will start selling standalone Kinect cameras for the Xbox One later this year, though pricing has not been announced.

"Today we're thrilled to offer our fans more choices to play the games they love and to enjoy all of their entertainment with the new Xbox One option for $399," Xbox marketing executive Yusuf Mehdi said in a statement.

Microsoft also announced today that Xbox 360 sales have risen to 84 million units sold (up from 80 million units), with lifetime game sales for the platform now hitting $37.7 billion. Lastly, Microsoft says that Xbox 360 gamers have now logged more than 88 billion hours of gameplay, which is equivalent to more than 100,000 centuries.
