E3 2008: Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party Impressions

Nintendo shows off three minigames from Ubisoft's upcoming Raving Rabbids sequel at its E3 press conference.

Ubisoft's Raving Rabbids showed up at Nintendo's E3 press conference earlier today in the form of a Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party trailer designed to highlight the game's Wii Balance Board functionality. The trailer, which frequently cut between gameplay footage and the usual shots of overly animated players in a living room, featured three of the game's 50-plus minigames.

All three of the minigames appeared to be variants on a racing theme. The first featured a rabbid riding a chopper motorcycle through a desert. The second showed a rabbid surfing through an asteroid field on an ironing board. And the third, which we've seen before, was a snowboarding-style slalom course in which the requisite rabbid was atop an upturned wildebeest.

The minigames featured in the trailer all appeared to be played using the Balance Board in conjunction with both a Wii Remote and a Nunchuk. It's highly unlikely, though, that the board will be required to play, given that the peripherals are still difficult to find in stores and that a good number of the minigames will undoubtedly support four players simultaneously. We look forward to bringing you more information on Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party when we (hopefully) get our hands on it at E3 later this week.
