Dwango raises $15 million
Seattle firm that developes mobile games and applications, Rolling Stone and Playboy partner, raises capital.
Mobile-content developer Dwango Wireless raised $15 million through the private sale of 15,000 shares of its stock to four investor groups, company officials said yesterday. Based in Seattle, Dwango creates and publishes games (Bassmaster Legendary Lunkers, Mountain Bike Extreme), applications, and ringtones for mobile phones. It also distributes mobile content for companies like Napster, Playboy, and Rolling Stone. "This financing allows us to continue the strong growth we are experiencing and to enhance our presence in the mobile arena," said Rick Hennessey, CEO of Dwango Wireless. Wedbush Morgan Securities brokered the offering.
