A new Dungeons & Dragons movie is coming to theaters in March, but that's not the only upcoming adaptation of the franchise in the works. Deadline reports that a D&D TV series has received a straight-to-series order at Paramount+.

Rawson Marshall Thurber, the director Dodgeball, Skyscraper, and Red Notice, penned the script for the pilot and will direct the D&D show's first episode, the report said.

Deadline said the D&D show was shopped around in late 2022 and found interest from "multiple buyers" before Paramount+ sealed the deal. None of the other potential suitors were mentioned in the report, however.

It's still very early days for the D&D TV series at Paramount+, so there is no word yet on a cast or release date. What we do know is that the movie, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, will debut in theaters this March. Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Rege-Jean Page, Hugh Grant, and Sophia Lillis star in the movie, which seems to finally understand what D&D is.

In addition to the new D&D TV series, Thurber is directing the movie based on Ubisoft's The Division, as well as Red Notice 2.

Paramount+ hosts the Halo TV series, which is returning for a second season, as well as the popular Yellowstone series and the Jeremy Renner show Mayor of Kingstown.
