Dragon's Dogma 2 - How To Romance Wilhelmina

Aid Wilhelmina and have a short tryst with her in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Comments

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and you'll see just that in Dragon's Dogma 2. That's because there's a particular quest where a certain character finally gets a chance at revenge. Here's our guide on how to romance Wilhelmina in Dragon's Dogma 2. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains minor spoilers.

How to romance Wilhelmina in Dragon's Dogma 2

The romance or affinity system in Dragon's Dogma 2 generally involves giving gifts to NPCs. Some might even offer you discounts or give you freebies. In the case of Wilhelmina, however, you have to complete her personal quest: Every Rose Has Its Thorn.

As of the time of this writing, we're uncertain as to what triggers the quest to start, but here's what we did during our playthrough:

  • We already completed the main objectives in Vernworth, including An Unsettling Encounter, The Caged Magister, Nameless Village, and Stolen Throne.
  • In An Unsettling Encounter, we entered the castle to find proof of Minister Allard's misdeeds. We tackled this quest well before we did the Stolen Throne mission.
  • During the Stolen Throne mission, we did not actually attend the masquerade ball. Instead, we walked at night along the right-hand side past the gates to the palace. That's where Wilhelmina suddenly appeared.
  • To avoid arousing suspicions from guards, she and the Arisen started to kiss. She then gave us a card that granted access to the Rose Chateau Borderlie. We then completed the Stolen Throne cutscene and objectives related to the False Sovran.
  • The next time we were able to speak to Wilhelmina, we pressed the "Gift" button prompt in the middle of dialogue. We then gave her a Bunch of Flowers.
We discovered Allard's involvement in a plot during An Unsettling Encounter (left). Wilhelmina helped us during The Stolen Throne (right).

Looking for Wilhelmina

We can't say for certain if the next quest step to romance Wilhelmina in Dragon's Dogma 2 becomes available shortly after Stolen Throne. In our case, the next time we returned to Vernworth was much later in the campaign (i.e. when we were doing main quests in Bakbattahl).

When we did find ourselves in Vernworth again, we went to the Rose Chateau Borderlie. Here's what you should know:

  • The attendant will say that Wilhelmina is busy with a client in one of the side rooms.
  • Enter Wilhelmina's bedroom and look through the peephole (the same one you used during The Stolen Throne).
  • You'll see Allard attempting to woo Wilhelmina, but she'll turn down his advances.
  • After Allard leaves, Wilhelmina will speak with you. Offer your aid to her.

Finding evidence that implicates Allard

The goal now is to find evidence of Allard's misdeeds:

  • You'll find the evidence in a second-floor room in Allard's Estate (i.e. it's right next to the Borderlie).
  • It seems that Allard and his personal bodyguard will be in this room regardless of the time of day:
    • If you enter this room, you'll get attacked.
    • If your pawns are with you, they'll likely kill some NPCs, which will cause other guards in the city to imprison you.
  • We recommend switching to the Thief vocation so you can unlock and equip the Shadow Veil ability.
  • Tell your pawns to wait at the inn, then activate the ability and enter the Allard's room. There's a chance that Allard won't even notice you, so you can go ahead and pick up the Murder Report on the desk.
  • Alternatively, you can tell your pawns to wait, rush inside the room to pick up the Murder Report, then dash back outside. The guard will lose interest after a while, and your pawns won't accidentally kill someone.
  • In any case, give the Murder Report to Wilhelmina and wait for a day to pass.
Grab the Murder Report and high-tail it out of there.

Finishing the revenge plot

Return to Wilhelmina the next day and offer your aid once more. She'll don a disguise and ask you to pin down Allard (who's in the next room). You can do this by pressing the "Grab" button. After the cutscene, leap outside the window to escape.

The Wilhelmina romance scene

To cap off the Wilhelmina romance in Dragon's Dogma 2, there's a short scene involving her and the Arisen. Once you've made your escape, wait a full day and return to Wilhelmina's chamber in the Borderlie. There, she'll plant a kiss on your character, which is then followed by an intimate scene.

And the Arisen gets Wilhelmina (for maybe 10 seconds).

This completes the Every Rose Has Its Thorn quest and the Wilhelmina romance in Dragon's Dogma 2. For your efforts, you'll receive 1,200 XP, 8,500 gold, and the Ring of Benevolence. The ring automatically recovers HP, albeit slowly, when you take a lot of damage in a single hit.
