Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest Heroes 2 will launch in North America on April 25, 2017 and Europe on April 28, 2017. It will be available on PS4 both digitally and physically.

"Set in an all-new world with new heroes and story, Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is an action-RPG that sends players on a grand adventure to restore order to a once peaceful world, with thrilling battles of epic proportions along the way. With the addition of multiplayer functionality, players can form a party of up to four online to conquer swarms of enemies and defeat gigantic monsters," reads a press release.

"Dragon Quest Heroes 2 brings together a cast of numerous unique characters each with unique moves and abilities, including a host of familiar faces from the Dragon Quest series and two brand new heroes to choose from cousins--Lazarel and Teresa."

Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is developed by Omega Force, the team behind the Dynasty Warriors series and spinoffs such as Hyrule Warriors, One Piece: Pirate Warriors, and Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom. It launched in Japan in May 2016.

The first game in the series earned an 8/10 from GameSpot. In our Dragon Quest Heroes review, Miguel Concepcion said it "affords every lover of the franchise the rare opportunity to cause genocidal destruction with the kind of efficiency you cannot find in a turn-based RPG. To flank a monster is to also admire it from angles you seldom see up close in other Dragon Quests.

"These tens of thousands of encounters plus the appearances by the series’ many other heroes makes for an essential experience for any Dragon Quest fan, even if you haven’t played a hack-and-slasher in ages. These characters are so fully realized that, assuming you’re not a stickler for official canon, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to consider Dragon Quest Heroes as a companion piece alongside the main series."

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.
