The Dragon Ball franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2024 with numerous new additions to the series, including the upcoming fighting game Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is a continuation of Bandai Namco's long-dormant fighting series, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi. The game was revealed at the 2023 Game Awards with a flashy trailer showing off several iconic characters from the series battling in 3D arenas.

While Publisher Bandai Namco has not yet revealed its release date, you can already preorder the console version at select retailers. So far, only a standard edition is available; No deluxe editions or preorder bonuses have been announced yet. The final box art hasn't even been revealed either--but we'll update this post with any new information once it's available. For now, let's go over where to preorder Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

While we don't know much about Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero's fighting mechanics, story, or online modes, the official website offers a smattering of early details, stating the game will feature "3D battles that stay true to the anime and video game series," and "breathtaking visuals and authentic combat moves," along with destructible 3D arenas that react to your battles.

Characters will also be able to transform into more powerful forms during combat, as evidenced by Goku, Vegeta, and Broly powering up to various levels of Super Saiyan in the announcement trailer. The full Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero roster has yet to be revealed, but Picollo, Krillin, Frieza, and Cell all appear in the first trailer alongside the aforementioned Saiyans, so fans can count on seeing those characters in the game when it eventually drops on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero isn't the only big Dragon Ball news fans can look forward to during its 40th anniversary this year. The other big Dragon Ball fighting game, Dragon Ball FighterZ, is set to get a massive update adding roll-back netcode and overhauled mechanics sometime this year. There's also an all-new Dragon Ball anime series, Dragon Ball Daima, set to premiere in Fall 2024.
