Dragon Age: Inquisition sees return of multiple player races

Third Dragon Age game will allow player to pick their race, as well as introduce mounts to the series for the first time.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will allow players to create characters from multiple races, developer BioWare has confirmed.

No Caption Provided

The developer spoke about the next entry of the fantasy RPG series in the latest issue of Game Informer, saying that the studio was addressing fan criticism of the second game for the sequel.

The original Dragon Age: Origins allowed players to create a character from a range of races. Its sequel, Dragon Age II, forced players into the role of a human named Hawke.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will also introduce mounts into the series, and reintroduce customisable armour.

In the game, the player will take the role as the head of the Inquisition, an organisation formed to confront evil and corruption in the land of Thedas.

"As the game begins, the Inquisition has plenty to investigate. War, scheming, and political strife have left the major power groups in the Dragon Age universe unable to operate effectively, which is a problem when a hole opens in the sky and demons begin pouring out. Players must fight back against the demonic threat while exploring a vast world and consolidating power for the growing Inquisition," said Game Informer's report.

"Large and varied environments, customisable armor, and the return of multiple player races are just a few of the ways BioWare is addressing feedback from previous titles in order to shape a new future for the franchise."

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2014.

Considering how good Dragon Age 2 was i hope Inquisition is even better.. Bioware is good at stories.. it's gameplay they usually have trouble with.. guess the 4th times the charm fro the Dragon Age series.. even though the combat in Dragon Age 2 was better then Origins/Origins: Awakening with real time combat rather then menu driven combat. I hope the combat is more real time for Dragon Age: Inquisition...

@thekazumalord DA2 was terrible. Awful combat with no strategy, enemies that scaled like crap, para-trouping waves of enemies and a pathetic story that should have started where it ended.

@mellow09 @thekazumalord to each his or her own isuppose.. i liked DA 2 far better the Origins or awakening. but that 's just me.. and my cousin who borrowed the game said the same thing.. .then again i also though Alice Madness Returns and Bioshock 2 were great games, so maybe i'm just weird that way. :P

Stop talking about Bioware. Bioware is dead, its EA now and you know what you can expect from EA.

I have not even thinked of another Dragon Age game due to lack of passion for RPG by Bioware in courtesy of EA in Dragon Age II. DA II is one of the worst game after a epic first game (Dragon Age: Origins). Atleast Bioware realised it now for what it takes to be the satisfying and a great Dragon Age game again.

I'm having a feel that Witcher 3 will be better than Dragon Age: Inquisition and also I think Bioware can do better than ever if they were a seperate company (no EA nonsense interceptions).

@wwlettsome @nirmalbalaji I actually enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins a lot. Its a epic RPG. But the second game is simply didn't upto the franchise's standard. I haven't played Dragon Age II and heard lot of compaints from my friends who mostly plays RPG's. I'm really looking forward for Inquisition since it was stated as it will plays like the first game.

@nirmalbalaji @wwlettsome Unless I read your comment wrong, you said that you didn't actually play Dragon Age II, so how can you say that it didn't live up to standards? I've played both, the first one is obviously the better game, but the second fixed a lot of bland stuff about the first. The visuals were vastly improved, the art design was more inspired, etc. It wasn't such a terrible game. Basically, don't take your friends' words on it. Try it out for yourself.

I actually said "yess" outloud when I read this. I just want to know how this is all connected. It's obviously to the mages which dealt with how it started last game, but which ones? Morrigan, Flemeth? Another question i'm having here(and it's a big one I think) is how our past game choices will work if we play on the next gen consoles.

@Angelsoft717 I don't think you should get your hopes to high about past choices, DA had a lot of problems with Plot Flags not being imported. Many plot flags where not imported from DAO to DAA to GOA to WH to DA2, you had to manually edit and add them to your save.

@wildkeny Makes no sense. These games would play much better using a keyboard/mouse so long as it's not designed specifically to cater to console gamers. Think any single player CRPG that came out pre-2010.

@Stardust7 @Timmy_Gwar It's just an alternative, no one said its the best. You can map whatever key or mouse function to whatever button or stick, totally personal preference.

Torchlight 2 was actually way more fun on controller for me.

Still going to watch this series carefully, and it won't be a day one buy. Still, I might give it a chance after all the reviews are in.

@Flubbbs Bioware has made a crap load of great games, they need no redemtion. Maybe the team who rushed DA2 need to re-evaluate things, but come on, you would drop such a long standing company so quickly?

@Timmy_Gwar @Flubbbs I remember the days of old and the erectio--I mean the fun I had with Baldur's Gate 2. Despite some disappointments in ME3's ending, the series as a whole was the most emotionally involving I've played. Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening were soft, warm lights in a cold era with little to no traditional RPGs. Dragon Age 2 was Dragon Age's slightly retarded cousin, but you know what you are if you hate on someone for being retarded ? An ass. I still have high expectations from BioWare.

Agreed Mr. Gwar. They've built up enough credit with all of their amazing games to where they're allowed a clunker now and then. Assuming a game company will never make a bad game, and then boycotting said company when they DO make a bad game..... not very logical.

Hell, the Mass Effect Trilogy alone gives them enough point to last for my lifetime (in my opinion). I'd never played anything like it and haven't since.
