In a recent interview with Masanori Tanaka, president of Randnet's board of directors, he commented that the company is planning on a downloadable NES game service through the Nintendo 64 64DD add-on peripheral. According to Randnet DD, it has already finished building the emulator needed to play NES games on the N64 console system, and services will begin as soon as licensing with other companies has been completed. The service will let gamers download games for a few hundred yen (about a US$1).

This follows Sega's recent announcement that it will let gamers download Sega Genesis and NEC Turbo Grafx 16 games onto the Dreamcast console. Randnet DD service and the 64DD are only currently available in Japan.
