Don Cheadle "Doesn't Get" Why He Was Nominated For Falcon And Winter Soldier Cameo

Give the man three minutes, and he can potentially earn an Emmy.

Actor Don Cheadle, who over the course of his career has now earned 11 Emmy nominations, took to Twitter to admit he's pretty confused over his most recent nomination. It was recently announced Cheadle's in the running for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series--which means he landed a spot in the category on the strength of a three-minute cameo in the pilot of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

In response, Cheadle tweeted: "I don't really get it either." This isn't the actor's way of being humble or falsely modest--Cheadle only speaks in one of the two quick scenes where he reprises his Marvel Cinematic Universe character James Rhodes. In the other scene, he's merely listening to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson give a speech about donating Captain America's shield to a museum. Cheadle's was the only acting nomination for the show.

The 73rd annual Emmy awards are set to air live on September 19 at 8 PM ET on CBS and Paramount Plus. Marvel has a strong showing at this year's Emmys, with WandaVision being a particular standout, earning nominations for Best Limited Series, Best Actress in a Limited Series (Elizabeth Olsen), Best Actor in a Limited Series (Paul Bettany), and Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series (Kathryn Hahn).

Cheadle also stars in Space Jam: A New Legacy, which debuts on July 16 in theaters and on HBO Max. The actor also recently let it slip that Michael Jordan will--despite many rumors to the contrary--be in the movie, "but not in the way you'd expect."
