Disney's Live-Action Snow White Movie Will Star Shazam 2's Rachel Zegler

West Side Story and Shazam 2 star Zegler will play the iconic princess in the new Snow White movie.

Rachel Zegler will star in Disney's live-action movie of Snow White. As reported by Deadline, Shazam! Fury of the Gods actor Zegler will play the title role in the new version of the legendary fairy tale.

Snow White will be directed by Marc Webb, who also made 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, plus the acclaimed indie film 500 Days of Summer. In a statement, Webb said, "Rachel's extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence, and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale."

The new Snow White movie will expand the music and songs from Disney's 1938 version, which was the studio's first feature length animated movie. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who also wrote songs for La La Land and The Greatest Showman, will compose the new songs. No other actors have been announced so far, and the movie doesn't have a release date.

Snow White is one of several other live-action Disney movies on the way. Peter Pan & Wendy is currently in production ahead of a premiere on Disney+ in 2022, and there are also versions of The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, and Bambi in various stages of development.

Zegler will next be seen in West Side Story, which is directed by Steven Spielberg and hits theaters in December. She will also appear in the DC sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which arrives in June 2023.
