The first new Disaster Report game to release outside Japan since 2007 (Disaster Report 2 was retitled Raw Danger! in the US) has been a long-time coming. It was originally meant to release for the PlayStation 3 in 2011, but was cancelled after the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

In 2014, developer Granzella acquired the rights to the franchise, and development on the game began anew. It is being localized by NIS America. Fans of the series have had to wait a long time for this latest entry.

Granzella previously developed the Japan-only City Shrouded In Shadow for PlayStation 3, which was intended to be a spiritual successor to the Disaster Report series.
