Digimon fans can look forward to the latest movie in the series, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, arriving on Blu-ray soon. Toei Animation has announced that it'll be releasing the new movie on June 11, 2024, and preorders are now live. While the original Digimon series focused on protagonist Daisuke Motomiya and his friends as they spent their childhood exploring the Digital World, this new film is set several years after their adventures and features a cast of familiar DigiDestined characters who have become young adults.

"It's 2012, and 10 years have passed since the adventure in the Digital World," the film's plot synopsis reads. "Daisuke Motomiya is now 20, and he and the rest of the DigiDestined seem to be changing bit by bit in terms of appearance and lifestyle. Then one day, a giant Digitama suddenly appears in the sky over Tokyo Tower. Daisuke and the others encounter a mysterious young man named Lui Ohwada, who informs them that he's the first ever DigiDestined in the world."

For this release, the bonus features include a limited-edition Digimon Card Game promotional pack and an introduction from Director Tomohisa Taguchi. The previous film in the series, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, was also directed by Taguchi, and chronicles the last adventure of Tai and Agumon. This is a great film, and is essential viewing before you see Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.

If you'd like to go back in time and see Daisuke saving the Digital World from various threats, you can pick up the complete Digimon Adventure 02 series on Blu-ray on May 28. This was a 50-episode sequel to the first series that was first broadcast in 2000. It has been remastered in full high-definition, so those classic episodes with their unique art direction look really great on modern TVs. This is the English dub as well, so you won't have to worry about splitting your attention between the animation and reading subtitles. Preorders are live now for $80 at Amazon.

With Amazon's preorder price guarantee, you'll get the lowest price offered for the movie and show between the time you order and release.

For even more Digimon releases, the complete first season just got a big discount and you can watch several films in the franchise with the Digimon Adventure Tri collection.
