Blizzard Entertainment has announced that its latest role-playing game expansion, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, has gone gold. The expansion adds a number of new features to the popular action RPG Diablo II, including a new fifth act with six quests, a new Barbarian Highlands area to explore, and a wide variety of new monsters, items, and spells. In addition, the expansion adds two new character classes--the assassin and the druid--along with a larger stash space and support for 800x600 screen resolution.

Diablo II was released in June of 2000 and has since sold more than 4 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling PC games of all time. Diablo II: Lord of Destruction will be available in a hybrid PC and Macintosh version on June 29 for an approximate retail price of $35. It requires a retail version of the original Diablo II game in order to play.
