Development of Blizzard's hot action-RPG sequel is at long last complete.

Blizzard announced today that Diablo II has gone gold. Diablo II, of course, is the eagerly anticipated action-RPG that has been in development for more than three years and the sequel to the best-selling role-playing game in recent memory. According to Blizzard, Diablo II already has 1.5 million pre-orders and will ship in worldwide release at the end of June.

Blizzard president Mike Morhaime says, "Diablo II is our most ambitious undertaking to date. From the depth of each character class and the size of each act to the expansion of Battle.net's new worldwide architecture and the number of languages for which we localized the game, the scope of Diablo II is much larger than any of our past projects. With development complete, we are now focused on shipping this game to retail worldwide by the end of the month."

Diablo II will ship on three CDs and is available for Windows. A Mac version of Diablo II is expected by the end of 2000. You will need a Windows 95 or better system with at least 32 MB of RAM and a Pentium 233 processor to run the game. Expect it on store shelves worldwide by the end of the month.
