Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition Launch Trailer Has All The Vergil You Can Handle

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / Series S when they fully release later this week on November 12 and November 10 respectively, and there's a snazzy new launch trailer that shows off some of the action. As DMC fans well know, this next-gen Special Edition of the game will have additional content that features Dante's brother Vergil as a playable character.

Capcom recently announced that DMC5's Vergil DLC will come to the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game at a later date, though many of the next-gen features that Capcom has added to the Special Edition won't be present.

Those improvements include ray-tracing and an optional 120 FPS mode, as well as new Turbo and Legendary Dark Knight Modes. The Xbox Series S version of the game will not have ray-tracing, however. PC players will also not have access to those new modes, though they can purchase the Vergil DLC for $5 when it eventually comes to that platform.

In GameSpot's Devil May Cry 5 review, critic Matt Espineli called the game a return to form for the series.

"DMC5 thrives on the stylistic and mechanical prowess of its predecessors. It sticks to tradition above all else, pursuing a few ambitious new ideas along the way, but mostly maintaining the series’ focus on intricate fighting systems and campy bravado," he wrote. "Rarely does the game stumble, consistently leveraging its spectacle and mechanical depth to push aside any small frustrations. All the while, the story exudes a charismatic charm that keeps you constantly intrigued as you’re refining your skills. DMC5 proves the series can still be brilliant and imaginative without compromising its longest-held traditions."
