Devil May Cry 5 Multiplayer Listed Online; Capcom Responds

Product listings for Devil May Cry 5 appear to have revealed a feature that Capcom itself hasn't announced yet. The game listings on Steam, the Xbox Store, and the PlayStation Store all list an online multiplayer component. The Xbox and PlayStation listings specify that it's for 2-3 players, while Steam says that it's co-op play.

"With Devil May Cry 5, we are focused on delivering a complete single-player action experience," a Capcom spokesperson told GameSpot." "No multiplayer features have been announced."

DMC5 isn't due out until March 2019, and Capcom has been slowly revealing more information since it debuted at E3 this year. The company could have been planning a more official reveal for the online co-op. So far Capcom has tied announcements to each of the three big press conferences. At Gamescom it announced a release date alongside a new trailer, and then a Deluxe Edition announced just this week at the Tokyo Game Show.

This Devil May Cry is very pointedly a direct sequel to 2008's Devil May Cry 4. Capcom attempted to reboot the series in 2013 with DmC: Devil May Cry. That game was critically successful but divisive for fans, which is likely why this one is going back to its roots.
