Here's something cool about Deadpool 2: Collider heard from sources that veteran actor Brad Pitt considered playing the role of Cable in the upcoming sequel.

According to the report, both film studio Fox and Pitt himself were enthusiastic. However, Pitt has since moved on, but those who want to see the Fight Club actor in the film shouldn't lose all hope yet. "Since this role is very much in flux, there's the possibility that things could change," Collider reported.

Now Playing: Who the Hell is Cable?

One thing that might complicate matters for Pitt is that he is scheduled to star in and produce the zombie movie World War Z 2, which is in the works but not yet fully confirmed.

Cable is said to play a major role in Deadpool 2. Earlier this week, it was reported that Oscar-nominated actor Michael Shannon is the frontrunner for the part; Stranger Things actor David Harbour is also reportedly in the mix. We'll report back with more details as they become available.

In addition to Cable, Deadpool 2 will feature the character Domino, who will be played by Atlanta star Zazie Beetz.

Deadpool 2 is set to be directed by John Wick's David Leitch. He replaces the first film's director, Tim Miller, who dropped out over reported creative differences with Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds.

No release date has been set for Deadpool 2.
