DC Universe Online consolidating servers

interesting...26 to 4 is a huge difference. o.O

Well who is really surprised by this? It is not uncommon,however, going from 26 to 4 servers sounds like a huge contraction. This MMO looks like its future will be a niche one.

I would like a real true expansion. It took me fifteen hours to reach the max level and after that it's just repetitive pvp and raids for better armor. Couple that with the fact that there's only two real locations and it made for a pretty shallow experience. Don't get me wrong, it was a great fifteen hours. But that's not enough to get me to resubscribe after 30 days. In my opinion, Champions Online is the best Superhero MMO out there right now. It's free to play, has multiple regions, and it takes a lot more time invested. Champs just feels deeper.

This definitely needs to happen if this game hopes to survive. DCUO was pretty popular at first but lost tons of folks after the initial free month simply because it just wasn't a game that held people's attention. It was monotonous, the graphics are mediocre especially for how long it took to develop the game, and the monthly charge should be closer to $10.99 a month. Let's hope this gives the remaining players alot more people to interact with.

Server mergers don't bother me at all. It is not a sign of game weakness so much as, the dev's paying attention to issues at solving it. Best way to fix low pop server's is to merge them, thank you!!!

at 15.99 a month what else would you expect? Sheesh.

my issue with this game. is where the evil for a villain. and no big fights with other villain groups etc

Another SOE MMO failing??? Not surprising at all. Usually cancellation follows within a year after this. Didn't even make it to an expansion.

@Super-Poke-Bros why would they remove all their servers. As long as there are enough players to keep the game profitable they just consolidate to a reasonable ammount.

I suspect "megaserver" is a PR term. Seems like the popularity of the game is not what was expected?

I would have bought this game if i didn't have to pay a monthly fee.

I wonder if this game will go free. There are good chances IMO. Very few mmos succeed in using WOW's business model.

This is a very good thing. Right now the servers are wicked empty. I queued for a instanced mission and I played for like an hour and a half before it finally got enough people.

I've been wanting to check this game out for a time, maybe i'll do it.
