Acclaim reiterated today that it intends to publish Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 for the GameCube, Xbox, and PlayStation 2. Currently being developed by Z-Axis, the second installment in the Dave Mirra franchise will include character and course edit modes, eight different environments that Acclaim contends are four times larger than those found in its predecessor, the ability to choose your own sponsors for bikes and gear, and more than 1500 trick variations to pull off. In addition, there will be 10 multiplayer games to choose from, including a bikathalon that combines all the multiplayer games into one gameplay mode. The object of the single-player mode is to dethrone the reigning champion Dave Mirra using one of the several real-world professional riders included in the game, such as Ryan Nyquist.

"This is a great extension of the Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX brand," said Steve Felsen, director of brand management. "This raises the bar for extreme sports games of any kind, as the gamer can literally create his or her own experience using our new custom rider and park editors and the hugely successful trick modifier from the first game."

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 is currently scheduled for simultaneous release on all three consoles in the fall.
