Dark Souls 2 ships 1.2 million copies in three weeks -- How many times have you died so far?

This game is a botched, poor attempt of a game. Even if they patch it enough so it's finally playable on PC, I'm not sure I'd be tempted to try it again.

I don't understand what some people see in it.

Awesome game. Though, the disadvantage to being a full magic build is not being able to have armor like in the picture for the article. Still, I prefer it over the first Dark Souls. However, Demon's Souls is still my favorite in the series, but Dark Souls 2 did a nice job mixing what I liked in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

Oh Dark Souls......you never disappoint me.

I have died way more times so far than I did with Demon's and Dark Souls. I am haven't completed my first playthrough yet but I have definitely had a harder time with this game than I did for the first two. Everyone has different experiences with these games which is one thing that makes them so unique. For example, it seems like people have trouble with different bosses than others. I for one, didn't find Orenstein and Smough to be uber hard like pretty much everyone else, but there were bosses that kicked my ass that other people didn't have so much trouble with. I have seen numerous examples like that.

Dark Souls 2 is a let down (compared to DS 1)

Dark souls was better I passed on the second in the series hopefully the next entry is a improvement.

Love the pve part of it but pvp is honestly a disaster...

It deserves more! i just beat NG++ i can't stop playing it, addiction level is too damn HIGH!! :P

Got one of my characters to NG++ for a plat trophy. What a drag, making ppl play through the game almost 3 times, just to be able to buy 3 spells. Otherwise have about 6 characters at the end of NG. Still I think DS1 is a better game, at least from the level design perspective. The more I play DS2 the more I see all the corners they've cut. I mean look at those rooms that hold primal bonfires and some of the "hidden" fires (Aida's keep, Drangelic castle, Earthen Peak...), mostly 4 by 4 walls, which look like my attempts at using Quake 3 level editor when I got it back then and figured out that I suck at level layout. In DS1 they were always in a ruin or some such, so you never had to asks "what's that box doing here?"

And those sliding secret walls......argghhhhh, reminds me of times when I was running along the wall in Doom 2 pressing the spacebar...

I've been having a great time playing it so far and have poured over 60 hours into the PC version already, coming up on NG+2 now. And in a lot of ways I think it's largely better than Dark Souls 1.

I will say though that I have been kind of disappointed in the boss design (both graphically and mechanically) in comparison to Dark Souls 1. Bosses like the Gaping Dragon just had such a visual impact on you when you walked in the room, as compared to something like the Covetous Demon. And not to mention that going in without reading any guides or watching any videos I was able to beat almost every boss on my first or second try. I never had a real challenging boss like O&S or the Four Kings.

Game of the Year, so far.

Havent checked my death count so far, since i was always playing online. But I can easily guess that I didnt die as often as in the previous games. Mostly the optional bosses gave me trouble. Some levels were really too easy in DS2 and there were even a handful of bosses I killed easily in the first try. Even the final story boss.

I hope they will make it a whole lot harder again when they do an PS-exclusive next time.

I'd say my favorite bosses were Pursuer, Smelter Demon, Demon of Song and of course Old Dragonslayer. The Lost Sinner, The Duke's Dear Freja, Mytha The Baneful Queen in poison and Ruin Sentinels (Yahim, Ricce, Alessia) solo on NG+ are an absolute horrendous nightmare :)
