Dark Souls 2 developers 'have not put any thought into' Xbox One, PS4 versions

see at first all had seen was this on the 360 but then they changed it to 360 and xboxone and now they are saying just 360 even in the stores it said xbox one so..... and im pretty sure ppl who saw the pre order card already pre orderd it fr 360 and id imagine they would be mad the release day and they say there isn't at xboxone version

Doesn't need to be on next-gen -- the game already looks/sounds fantastic.

The hipsters who sold their PS3/360 to play games like Knack and Ryse don't care about quality gaming anyway..

Everyone that is part of the Souls series community knows that this game wasn't going to be released for the new consoles.

That is why I kept my 360 and PS3.

Anyway, as I said before, if they port the game later to the new consoles I would happily get another copy since I want to support From Software so they can keep releasing more Souls games.

How wouldn't you be thankfull to a developer that has delivered you thousands of hours of gameplay and fun?

Any dev that claims they have not considered their game for PS4 is not telling the full truth. They all consider whether or when it is right for them to jump on board the future and most will be working on their PS4 game engine or porting research even while that decision is being thought through for any particular game.

I can respect a game dev who actually admits that they fucked something up, and are willing to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I am not a fan of rebuying the same game for a different system, but this is one I would make an exception for. But I say just release it the way it was intended and then work on a brand new Souls game for PS4/Xbone/PC.

I'm getting an Xbox 360 next month for Castlevania LOS 2 and have never played a Dark Souls game. I might consider Dark Souls 2 but am a bit hesitant to buy it because I've heard you will die alot in this game. If anyone on here can give me a good reason as to why I should buy Dark Souls 2 I'm all ears.

Still awaiting a PC patch for Dark Souls 1. You know, so we don't have to use a console controller for it to work... and so we don't have to rely on dsfix for it to run beyond 15fps.

Pc version oh yeah.Hope they don't half ass it.

I know that the old systems have a larger install base, so from a business perspective it makes sense. That being said, PLEASE, PLEASE From Software, release it for the PS4 sooner than later! Think how much more immersive it could be.

well at least it's coming to pc, the best platform by far, so I'm happy about that.

So much stupidity in these comments. It's smart of them to not release the game for the PS4 and Xone. Stop just thinking of yourself and what you want and think about things from a company viewpoint. Would you rather release your game for a system that has 4 million users, or would you release it for a system that has 50 million? Especially considering that people wanting to play the game will want to play it on the current systems and not have to pay an extra $400-$500 just to play it.

Of course we would all love to play our favorite games with the best visuals and whatever else, but it's not worth it to the company to invest the extra resources to put it onto a new system. These games cater to a small group of the gaming community. They're not the kind of thing that sells millions of copies within a day or two. So it's smart to stick with the system that you know how to program for and you know is going to have the people wanting to play your game. But in case people happened to miss it, they did say "We have not put any thought into this yet." So as of right now they're not doing it but it might happen some time later. Remember, these are the people that said there will be no DLC for Dark Souls and then like a year later they release some.

As for any people whining that they've gotten rid of their old system and people need to get with the times and whatever... you're an idiot. Just because you were dumb enough to immediately get rid of your PS3 or 360 and now expect developers and everyone else to cater to you, it's not going to happen. That's entirely your problem and now you have to sit around and watch as others play the games that you no longer can.

Other games already maxed out the 360/PS3's capabilities a long time ago. Ignoring next-gen seems really foolish on so many levels.

I have a PS3 and a PS4, I want to play the game on the highest graphical detail and the most fluid experience possible on consoles, which is the PS4 in my case. Considering one of the most difficult levels of Dark Souls was Blighttown, mostly because frame rate would dip to single digits most the game.

I still want to hold out until hopefully they release the PS4 version.

thanks alot gamespot! way to list this game as being released for next gen for the last few months. there were 2 reasons i wanted a ps4 watchdogs and this. first watchdogs gets delayed now youre telling me this game is NOT coming out for ps4.... Im livid right now, i had to sell my ps3 to get ps4 and now im probably gonna have to sell my second tv to buy a ps3 so i can play this. at least tell me it will available through PSnow... that would save me a lot of trouble and money.
