Dark Souls 2 developers 'have not put any thought into' Xbox One, PS4 versions

An interview with Dark Souls II co-director reveals the developer hasn't thought about next-gen versions of the game yet.

Co-director of Dark Souls II Yui Tanimura has said that developer From Software has not put any thought into next-gen versions of the game yet.

"We have not put any thought into this yet, so I unfortunately can’t answer at this point," Tanimura said when Edge asked him what it would take to bring the more graphically advanced PC version of Dark Souls II to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

When asked why From Software didn't develop a next-gen version of the game at the outset, Tanimura explained that the team's intention was to capitalize on the potential of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and deliver the game to fans as soon as possible.

Last year, Tanimura also admitted that the PC version of Dark Souls was "half-assed," and promised the studio won't make the same mistakes twice with the PC version of the upcoming sequel.

The PC version of Dark Souls shipped some ten months after the Xbox 360 and PS3 iterations. From Software promised that Dark Souls II will hit PC shortly after the console versions launch on March 11, 2014 in North America, and March 14, 2014 in Europe.

Well I'm sorry but I got a next gen console. Why the hell would I buy a game for old gen now that next gens been out for months? Big mistake from software. U gotta cater to the new consoles man....I refuse to buy it until it comes to next gen where it should've been planed for in the beginning.

It was their choice--not PC gamers--to have it on the previous console generation.

@MattyTheButcher I play plenty of challenging games like DmC, The Witcher 2, Metal Gear Rising: Revengence, and Gears at the hardest difficulty. I usually have to really love a game to keep jacking up the difficulty. Nothing special about Dark Souls.

Even the next-gen consoles are holding the graphics technology from fully expanding. PC gaming is clawing its way back from death with just too amazing performance to ignore.

PC version was delayed gamespot....maybe print that instead of saying " all Dark Souls II versions are slated to << LINK REMOVED >> on March 11, 2014."

Also last I checked it was March 14th, not 11th.

PC version they said will try to be in the same window, later March sometime if we are lucky.
