CDPR has officially started to work on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Project Orion. Although it may be some time before we're given a glimpse of what it is, one dev said it'll be "something special."

The news comes from X/Twitter, where Igor Sarzyński, the narrative director for Cyberpunk 2077 and Project Orion, tweeted how excited they are to be back in the office to work on the upcoming game. The tweet reads:

"First day in the Boston office! So good to meet old friends and officially kickstart our Orion journey. I couldn't be more excited for this project and I'm sure we can make it something special. 2077 was just a warm-up."

It's worth mentioning that Project Orion was announced late last year. Although it doesn't have a release date, the upcoming sequel is said to "prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe." Now that the team is done working on Phantom Liberty, it appears the studio is taking its first steps toward a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

Be sure to read our Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty review, where Michael Higham wrote: "Phantom Liberty is Cyberpunk 2077 at its best. CD Projekt Red has taken the lessons from the original release and focused on the parts that mattered most to deliver a thrilling and impactful experience that doesn't overstay its welcome."
