Cyberpunk 2077 Players Warned To Check Their PC Cooling Systems Before Phantom Liberty Launch

Is your PC cool enough to handle Phantom Liberty?

With just two weeks left to go before Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty expansion launches, lead scene programmer Filip Pierściński has advised players on PC to make certain that their machines can handle the heavy load that'll be placed on their systems.

"We use all that you have, so workload on CPU 90% on 8 core is expected," Pierściński posted on Twitter/X. "To save your time please run Cinebench or similar and check stability of your systems."

Cyberpunk 2077 had some high hardware demands when it first launched on PC in December 2020, and for the expansion, developer CD Projekt Red has updated the system requirements to reflect the changes in PC hardware and software over the last couple of years. An SSD is now mandatory, a Geforce RTX 2060 Super or Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU are listed in the recommended settings, and to experience the game in ray-tracing overdrive mode at 4K 60fps, you'll need to have a Geforce RTX 4080 16GB GPU installed.

To see if your PC rig can handle what is expected to be an intensive workload, the recommended Cinebench program is a free way to measure your PC and cooling systems for any thermal throttling issues.

Phantom Liberty, which serves as the one-and-only paid expansion to Cyberpunk 2077, brings with it a number of big changes to Night City. Cops will be more ruthless, car combat has been added, and the game has a distinctive spy-thriller atmosphere as you infiltrate a new district that's home to dangerous factions.
