CRI Middleware has announced the release of its middleware for Triforce and Chihiro arcade boards. The Triforce board is based on the GameCube architecture, while the Chihiro board is based on the Xbox. The CRI middleware package includes video, sound, and file-management components and is intended not only to smooth the development process for arcade games, but also to make it easier to port the games to consoles.

At the JAMMA 2002 arcade show in Tokyo, we saw both the Chihiro and Triforce boards in action, running the Triforce's Virtua Striker 2002 and House of the Dead III , both of which use the CRI middleware. There are photos of the Chihiro system on this 2880808page , and some more details on the Triforce can be found 2880706here .
