The first trailer for the third installment of the Creed franchise is here and it's looking like it'll deliver the same hard-hitting action and emotions that the previous entries did before. Star Michael B. Jordan makes his directorial debut here, continuing the story of Adonis Creed, who is still World Heavyweight Champion, and the fights he goes through, in and out of the ring.

Creed's newest adversary is a person out of his childhood, Damian Anderson, played by Jonathan Majors. Damian was also a boxing prodigy before getting locked up and is now just getting out of prison and looking to get back at Adonis for supposed unpaid debts. You can check out the trailer below.

"Still sounds crazy to say but there's no film that has been more personal to me and no film I've felt more ready to steer," Jordan tweeted, sharing his excitement about his directorial debut. "Excited to share the first trailer for Creed 3. To my cast [and] crew thanks for working so hard to continue the legacy of the franchise."

Returning for Creed 3 are Tessa Thompson, who plays his wife Bianca, Phylicia Rashad as his mother, Mary Anne, and coming back from Creed 2, Florian Munteanu, who plays Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). It was rumored that Majors was actually playing the son of Clubber Lang from Rocky III, who was played by 80s icon Mr. T, but the trailer gave no confirmation of that.

It should be said that the biggest name absent from the cast is Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone. Stallone announced back in April 2021, he would not reprise his iconic character this time around. This is the first time Rocky is not involved in the story, but Stallone himself still serves as a producer for his Balboa Productions banner.

Creed 3 was originally scheduled for Thanksgiving this year, but now will be released on March 3, 2023.
