Crash Team Rumble's New Characters And Powers Are Not Tied To Battle Pass

New heroes and their powers are unlockable by completing in-game challenges.

Activision announced that Crash Team Rumble will include battle passes, but confirmed that new heroes and their powers are earnable in-game. Specifically, players will only be able to unlock new characters and their abilities by completing challenges.

"We want a balanced experience for every player to enjoy the N. Sane fun that Crash Team Rumble has to offer," reads an excerpt from an Activision blog post. The company explained that battle passes will only reward players with cosmetic items, but also confirms that cosmetics will be achievable in-game.

There are already two confirmed battle passes for Crash Team Rumble: Season 1 and Season 2. While their specific contents aren't yet revealed, we know they'll include skins, emotes, banners, and other cosmetics. As in other games, these battle passes will be comprised of 100 tiers of unlockable items.

A closed beta for Crash Team Rumble will take place from April 20-24, giving players a chance to try the game early.

Crash Team Rumble is a competitive multiplayer game that features bits of gameplay elements from the Crash Bandicoot series. In it, teams of four (comprised of Crash characters) will compete against one another to see who can collect the most Wumpa Fruit. Players will also need to deposit Wumpa Fruit while defending their drop-off zones from other opponents.

Crash Team Rumble launches for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on June 20, 2023.
