At E3, Bandai will show its upcoming, Banpresto-developed action adventure game, Cowboy Bebop. The game will be based on the anime series of the same name, which has gained considerable popularity in the US via its regular airtime on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block. The Cowboy Bebop TV series takes place in the year 2071, where futuristic bounty hunters hunt intergalactic law-breakers, such as hackers, drug dealers, and terrorists. In the game, you will be able to play as the show's primary protagonists, Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, and Faye Valentine. Each character will have their own method of fighting, including Spike's Jeet Kune Do skills and Jet's bulldog style.

The style of the game will be fully modeled after that of the TV show, and the plot will have you hunting down more than 50 different interstellar outlaws, allowing you to collect special rewards for each capture. Players who finish the game will learn new characters and gameplay modes as well as new details about Cowboy Bebop's underlying storyline. Of course, no Cowboy Bebop game would be complete without a soundtrack that features the jazz stylings of Yoko Kanno, and thankfully, the game will have that aspect fully covered.

Cowboy Bebop is scheduled for release exclusively on the PlayStation 2 in the late fall. We will have more on Cowboy Bebop from the E3 show floor.
