Season 1 of multiplayer includes three brand-new core 6v6 maps and one 2v2 map, which arrive alongside holiday reskins of other maps during the season. The season includes new game modes. All or Nothing, which was introduced in the original Modern Warfare 3, is a free-for-all mode with a very limited loadout. A new Vortex mode themed around the Ray Gun from Zombies will arrive later in the season.

Two new killstreaks were announced. The Swarm is earned at either 15 kills or 1,875 points, and it deploys a large number of mosquito drones to a selected area. The EMP is earned at 13 kills or 1,625 points, and it provides an electromagnetic pulse to disrupt enemy killstreaks and equipment.

On the Zombies side, there's a new story act to complete, continuing the narrative of the first three acts. A massive gateway will appear on the map for players to investigate and engage in new end-game content.

Season 1 includes the addition of Dark Aether rifts. These are described as labyrinth-like experiences challenging squads to complete a series of objectives in the given time. Completing these rifts earns new rewards. The update also adds the V-R11 Wonder Weapon, new schematics to unlock, and a new Warlord fortress to infiltrate.

More shop bundles were announced for The Boys, Dune, and Santa. Players can also expect new daily, prestige, and seasonal challenges.

Warzone's Season 1 update arrives on December 6, which includes Modern Warfare 3 integration with the new Urzikstan map. Warzone's holiday event includes an LTM with a Zombie Santa and deer-hunting.
