Child of Eden ending to be user-generated
Ubisoft announces that finale of Q Entertainment's upcoming rhythm game will culminate with montage of player-submitted images.
At the Electronic Entertainment Expo this past June, Ubisoft announced it was publishing Child of Eden, a new rhythm-shooter hybrid from famed designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi's studio Q Entertainment. Billed as a spiritual successor to the classic Rez, the game will ship in Q1 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with support for the two consoles' respective motion-control systems, Move and Kinect.
In an unprecedented--and slightly spoilerish--move, Ubisoft announced today that the ending of Child of Eden will feature a photo montage of hundreds of "beautiful nature shots, stunning landscape views, and other happy and positive images."
The twist is that instead of featuring art created by Q's designers, the finale will feature images submitted by prospective players of the game. The initiative is called the Journey Project, and it will tie in to the game's plotline, which has players eradicating a virus from a network of computers holding the sum total of human knowledge. Those wishing to submit photos for consideration can do so by logging on to the official Child of Eden Web site before November 20, 2010.
"The theme of Child of Eden is 'Hope and Happiness' and I want players to experience happy feelings every time they play the game," said Mizuguchi in a statement. "I need your help to convey these positive emotions, so please send us pictures that give you good vibes so we can include them in the ending of the game."
