Castlevania Mastermind's Bloodstained Coming to PlayStation Vita

The crowdfunding campaign for Castlevania mastermind Koji Igarashi's Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night continues to grow, with the game expanding to new platforms. Now that funding has passed $3.5 million, the gothic platformer will be released on another platform, Sony's PlayStation Vita.

The news was announced through an update to the game's Kickstarter page. It explains that digital and physical copies will be available, along with cross-save support with the PlayStation 4 edition. We've also now learned that the PS Vita's touch screen will be used, at least in part, for the game's map.

PS Vita becomes Bloodstained's fifth platform, joining PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U. Armature Studio, which was founded by Metroid developers, will work on the PS Vita edition.

The Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, which originally asked for $500,000, closes in four days on June 12. There are still more stretch goals that could be met, including orchestrated music tracks ($3.75 million), an online challenge mode ($4 million), and a third playable character ($4.25 million), among others.

Igarashi, who quit Konami last year, produced more than a dozen Castlevania titles, beginning with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in 1997. He is known for transforming the series into a more adventure-oriented direction known as "Metroidvania." Igarshi is calling Bloodstained "Igavania."
