Candyman Haunts Your Twitter As New Trailer For The Horror Movie Arrives

The first trailer for the new horror movie Candyman, produced by Jordan Peele, has arrived. The original 1992 Candyman explored myth and legend in modern setting. Essentially, it was the Bloody Mary game you play as a child, but steeped in segregation, classism, and racism. Also, it was terrifying.

This June, the series is getting a spiritual sequel, and the first trailer for the new movie is coming on Thursday. In order to get the word out about the film, the official Candyman Twitter will interact with you if you share its content, and you'll get a brief look at the upcoming movie. That's how the world works now.

The official account will tweet back to you a short video which doesn't give too much away. Luckily, we're only a couple days away from a full trailer. Yes, this is just blatant promotion for the movie, in order to get the word out about it, but at least there's something fun happening on Twitter. And that counts for something, right?

The new film is produced by Jordan Peele and directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods). It stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Teyonah Parris, and even Tony Todd--who played the original supernatural being in the original--is set to appear in the new movie.

The film will center around the same locale as the original movie, Cabrini-Green in Chicago, which was once a notorious area in Chicago and housing project. Since then--in both the movie and real life--the area has been gentrified, filled with overpriced townhomes, and a Target, while the housing projects have been torn down. The legend of Candyman, however, still lives on.

Candyman releases on June 12. If you say his name in the mirror five times, then he'll be haunting you for your whole lifetime because you did just that in 1994, and now, you are scared of mirrors even though nothing happened. Thanks Blockbuster for allowing a 12 year old to rent a rated R movie.
