Call of Duty's VR Experience Free to All PS4 Owners, Not Just Infinite Warfare Players

You won't need to buy Infinite Warfare after all.

Call of Duty's VR experience, Jackal Assault, will be free to everyone on PlayStation 4, Activision announced today.

When it was first announced, Activision said Jackal Assault would be free to everyone who buys Infinite Warfare on PS4, not unlike the VR mode coming for free to Star Wars Battlefront owners on PS4. That changed today--a blog post detailing Infinite Warfare's features states Jackal Assault will be "available to all PS4 owners, not just for players who have purchased the game, as a free, added bonus on November 4."

Now Playing: Call of Duty Jackal Assault VR Made Us Sick

Come Friday, anyone on PS4 will be able to download Jackal Assault from the PS VR section of the PlayStation Store. You will, however, need a PS VR headset in order to actually play it.

Jackal Assault was revealed during the annual Call of Duty XP event in September. The PS VR "experience," as Activision puts it, "immerses you in the cockpit of a Jackal, the personal, multi-role fighter jet" from Infinite Warfare.

We got to try it at TGS and thought it looked fantastic, though we found it to cause motion sickness, as noted in the video above. Your experience may vary of course, and at least you'll now be able to try it for yourself without spending a penny.

VR hasn't hit the point yet where I'd be willing to buy it. It's mostly tech demos. Once they start releasing real full AAA titles for it, THEN I will buy one.

@jayskoon93: if people don't show support now, it may never happen. People that don't pay for one would be lucky if it fails, yet they would be the cause at the same time.

@mjonk2pc: I understand what you're saying, but it's just too gimmicky right now. Its like how the Kinect was for the Xbox. I just don't see it going anywhere in its current state.

@jayskoon93: I can't wait to see how much better it is on ps4 pro. I want to see more platformers on vr. Forget the first person stuff. Give me a Mario type game that I can look ahead of my character and crap like that. Diablo 3 would be awesome too.

Sweet didn't want cod but the vr experience looks good! I'm guessing they are fearing lower sales on this so trying to entice the vr market to buying it

@aross2004: I'm hoping EA makes the battlefront vr a bit longer. Like 20 times longer. At least more than part of a mission.

@aross2004: That's what 98% of all VR games are.

@fig56: that sucks. So far all of us(me and 6 kids) have been lucky and had no issues. My 13 year old daughter gets on driveclub vr and whips donuts continuously, almost makes me sick watching on the TV.

@mjonk2pc: It really does suck. I rarely go to amusement parks because of it. I can't stand being constantly haggled because I don't want to get on rides with family and friends.
