Call Of Duty Cheater Banned After Bragging On Twitch

A CoD streamer has been banned from Twitch after accidentally revealing himself to be using cheating software.

As the saying goes, cheaters never prosper, and that appears to be the case for at least one Call of Duty player streaming on Twitch. During a recent broadcast on Twitch, a streamer accidentally revealed himself to be a cheater in Call of Duty: Warzone. This caught the attention of Twitch itself, which banned him from the service for his conduct. Justice has been served, at least in this instance.

While bragging about how good he was at Warzone recently, streamer MrGolds had his screen showing a Windows task manager. However, underneath that window was the cheating program EngineOwning, something that didn't go unnoticed by viewers. (It's certainly bold to be that careless while bragging about how good you are.) The clip was shared online through tweets like the one below, which called for his stream to be reported to Twitch. His Twitch account is no longer available, apparently having been banned by the streaming service. It's unclear if or when he'll be back.

EngineOwning (which we will not link to here) advertises itself as an "undetected" cheat system for big-name shooters. That might be true for the game software itself, but eagle-eyed viewers weren't going to let him get away with it. The program has several settings related to "aimbot" tools, making it rather funny that he was bragging about his gunplay in the clip at the time his cheating was discovered.

Cross-play with other platforms in CoD: Modern Warfare has expanded the pool of players' experiences who can be disrupted by cheaters on PC, so any steps that CoD's developers can take to curb cheating is arguably more important than ever. A recent legal action saw another Call of Duty cheats site remove its cheat software.

Just earlier this month, Infinity Ward stressed that it would be rolling out more bans for accounts that were using third-party software, so it shouldn't come as a surprise if more players using these sorts of tools are also banned from the game itself. With Warzone also placing cheaters together in their own exclusive lobbies before, perhaps MrGolds can get a taste of his own medicine, too.

With any luck, these policies and systems will carry over to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It's set to release in November and will bring back Zombies mode along with new content for Warzone and a brand-new multiplayer mode.

What a little bitch. I’ll never understand how people find cheating enjoyable in the first place... at least as far as multiplayer games are concerned. I understand using built-in cheats in single player games, because that’s sometimes more fun. In multiplayer games, though? You might be “winning,” but you don’t have any skill. How is that fun?

@justthetip: Depends on where the enjoyment from winning comes from. Some people enjoy the feeling of overcoming and earning the victory, others it's more the experience they enjoy and the actual victory itself isn't necessarily as important, others just get satisfaction from the fact that they "won" regardless of how. In this case there's also the possibility that he just enjoyed the external validation of the viewers praising him. There are a lot of different types of enjoyment.

@justthetip: Some people don't care about winning through legit methods. They just care about winning through any means necessary and making everyone else miserable to feed some inferiority complex.

@Darkflare_EX: their identity as well as recognition are linked to their skills/wins/kills

When all of these are wrapped up together, the dopamine hits from the combined trifecta is too much to admit ‘I am a coward’ as such with other addictions the stuff people do to feel good about themself and fill the void where they’ve given up IRL.

Goes from talking shit to complete silence once he's aware. Love it!!

I don't mind being a gamer and the negative stereotypes that come with it. But to actually cheat at a game, and then brag as if you have actual skill from cheating....it's a special kind of low.

If you cheat at a video game and stream it and brag about your skills -

Well, son, you may have won a game, but you have definitely lost at life.

I don't mind cheaters. Even in online gaming against other human players. I don't care that much about the online competitive experience. Been there... Done that... And it's got a TON of problems aside from just cheaters so... I just don't really care...

LAG...

Micro transactions...

Pay to win micro transactions...

Sooo many micro transactions that pressure you into buying them in order to fully enjoy the game which can cost several hundred or sometimes even thousands of dollars...

Bull crap DLC that should have been there at launch.

Speaking of game launches... What's with all of the unfinished game launches???

Gankers... Campers... Racists... Sexists... Weirdo creepy stalkers who make death threats... AFKers... Betrayers... Rage quitters...

Unbalanced games with uneven starts...

Horrid maps with terrible spawns...

Broken scoring systems... For example when halo 3 first came out in 2v2 slayer competitive ranked matches... Suicides don't count against you. Gain the lead by 1 or 2 kills and then just keep killing yourself whenever you respawn until time runs out. What kind of bull crap is that??? People actually unlocked the highest ranks possible by abusing this over site lol. Pretty sure they fixed it eventually but for a while there... It was totally messed up lol.

Class systems so players who are more experienced not only have a advantage in that regard but simply have more gear to choose from in order to whoop your arse. So much for being the new guy who has any chance at all at winning.

I've kind of seen it all sadly... And to me the bad outweighs the good. The only good I find is being able to find someone to play with/against on a certain game in case you have no one in real life who wants to play that said game with you. Or if Allen wants to play a game with ya but doesn't feel like driving for 10 minutes to get to your house lol. Other than that... That's the only real positive stuff I can see about online competitive gaming. And let's get real... These so called "competitive" games are mostly unbalanced as heck and don't require much skill since many games today offer nube friendly stuff like highly sensitive auto aim and what not... Sure there is skill but my point is... A lot of the time there aint much skill like in the case of cod lol. Just look in the general direction of a dude and pepper him from your lil camping corner and you're a winner lol. That sums cod up basically. The whole whoever sees who first gets the kill 9 times out of 10 style game play. It's really not that interesting and isn't exactly the most difficult thing to do in games... Just sayin...

So I really don't care if people cheat...

Here's what I DO care about though. If you're going to cheat... Be honest about it lol. And many things in gaming are looked at as cheating to some folks but not cheating towards other folks. Some grey areas there...

What's real fun is when you fight a cheater and whoop the cheater anyways lol. I whooped a few cheaters once : )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fP-EGaqm1C8

Can't even win as a cheater??? Lolz that's hilarious.

But if you're going to trash cheaters, but cheat yourself, and pass yourself off as some super skilled gamer that should get donations because of how "gud" he is at whatever said game... That's just scammery lol. This guy is a freakin scammer. A fraud. A total fraud. Do you think he should get money for being totally full of it? That's up to you guys. Me personally? I think he should get paid by doing something else... Just sayin...

@goldenageplayer: You rank "camping" (a valid tactic) in there with cheaters, racists, rage quiters, etc? All I can do is laugh at that nonsense.

Although I agree on most of all the other stuff.

@Lach0121: Camping is arguably not in the spirit of competitive play. Nevermind sportsmanship, if you're camping players then you're not subjecting yourself to an enemy at his best and therefore your growth will be stifled as well, and you'll be relying on camping to get kills for the duration of your gaming life. On top of that, who has fun punching a man before he has "put up his dukes"?

@clockworkengine: LOL Horseshit.

Once again "camping" = Not someone running around like a chicken with their head cut off so I can get easy kills, and hidden behind the insincere rhetoric of sportsmanship and lack of skill.

Nobody ever complains about enemy players who run into their sites like automated idiots, no they complain about those who use their environments to their advantage. So when players meet someone on the field that doesn't move as fast as they do, and get destroyed, They dismiss it off as "well, camper" just so they can try to feel less insecure about their loss.

Players that cannot adapt to someone using a valid tactic like camping/slow movement so they come online to complain about it... they are the ones that are stifling their growth/skill.

@Lach0121: Well, I don't play those kinds of games. I'm not that good at them, honestly. My sons are though, and they never camp. I teach them that if they can't play against someone unless they keep shooting them before they get up then they aren't earning their victories. Camping is a sign of desperation, and desperation never looks good. True winners can win when their opponents are standing on their feet and ready to fight. Campers, well, you get the idea

@clockworkengine: I don't think you get the idea...

Camping is a sign of desperation is just another horseshit line that run & gunners use when they get their ass handed to them by someone moving slower than they are. Usually followed by the No True Scotsman fallacy = "True winners don't - insert blah blah blah." If you cannot adapt to someone who is camping (yet again a valid tactic) then it is you that cannot earn your victory.

Camping is not spawn camping - Spawn camping is killing them before they can ever get up. Sitting at the enemies spawn, and when they respawn, instant kill. That is a problem, but that is not camping.

Camping is a valid tactic. Go tell your BS to someone who has been in combat, or who plays paint ball. Something other than watching your sons who you seem to be teaching to write off their losses if they happen to lose to a person that moves slower than they do. Because "campers." That or they are teaching you that nonsense.

Its like some people don't even understand the concept of sniper.

Well, hopefully you get the idea at some point, as I am done carrying this on. Sure you can reply with some other anti-camping nonsense, but that is exactly what it will be written off as... nonsense.

@Lach0121: Nah, I'm not buying it. Sounds like you're desperate to convince me. Don't worry about what I think, worry about convincing yourself. It looks to me like you feel pretty empty about your so-called victories and are seeking validation. If you played with honor you wouldn't find yourself in this situation.

@clockworkengine: LOL pathetic attempt. Once again you fail to comprehend simple things. Keep latching on to words like Honor that don't apply in this situation... "Desperate to convince".... LOL I am not the one desperately claiming a valid tactic such as camping has no honor, and creates empty victory. That is You who is desperately trying to convince.

I will be moving on now. You have proven to be a waste of time, and words. Confirmed anti-camping nonsense. I will be ignoring your idiotic replies now.

@restatbonfire: On console ban the console itself from all online games. On Steam, ban the entire account. Until there are severe penalties, cheating will not stop.

@restatbonfire: Any respectable game company does whatever they can to ban all cheaters. Unfortunately, it's not quite as simple as banning an IP as there's ways around that if you're saavy enough. It's best to explain it as an arms race where both sides are finding new ways to counter their tactics.

As someone who just started playing this game about a week ago with friends (we got 1st place today for the first time), this couldn't make me happier. I've seen people cheating, but I accept it as part of the game. Still it's wonderful to see someone get what they deserve.

@Clouded_Leopard: Feel similar. Cheaters are not a big deal in gaming to me but they should be stopped. Too many of them in a game and oops... It's unplayable online. I know I don't want to play a game if I know that I will run into cheaters in every other match.

Halo 2 back in the day had cheaters like crazy. Reach a certain rank and expect a cheater in just about every other match. It's the reason I wasn't closer to a level 40 back in the day and was a 34. They would just tell me to "git gud" even though they never had to lift a finger BECAUSE THEY ARE CHEATERS lol. Bunch of a holes...

Imagine how little must be going on in someone's life if they feel the need to not only cheat but also stream themselves closet cheating and trying to brag about the skills they know are fake. People with big egos but nothing to justify those egos really will do pretty crazy things.

@icing: It's not the cheating that bugs me. It's his scammery that's the real problem. Folks cheat in games all the time. And who's to say what's cheating and what's not cheating? Lots of grey areas there... But trying to pass yourself off as a legit pro who should be showered in gold for having precise gaming skills that most only wish they could have while being a total fraud in secret? That's just disgusting... Please don't be like this everyone. Make your living through means of fairness. Not by lying. At that point it's not just a game anymore. You're literally just a scammer at that point...

@icing: They are braggadocios to get their view count up. If people buy into his hype which sadly many suckers do, they start throwing money at him. Its why I often tell others, unless it's something like a pro streamer or someone who provides content outside of playing a game (I.e themed youtube videos, podcasts, reviews etc) don't throw away money at someone who won't even remember who you are past their rehearsed 'thank you' gimmick.

Absolutely perfect that moment where he realizes it is showing and starts dying inside. I don't even play Warzone, but the less cheaters we have in gaming the better (Exclusions being singleplayer, private multiplayer with all parties agreeing [Such as just screwing around with friends], etc). I play games to have fun and profiting off of what provides entertainment is fine, but when your profit stems from your "skill" with it turning out to be a farce and affects other gamers then they do not deserve to even play the game.

Pretty funny when he realizes he has his cheat tool open up still behind his task manager, then he all a sudden stops talking and knows his life as a fraud is now exposed to all.

How can you convince yourself to brag about your skills if you're using a cheat tool?

@Yams1980: Well it is possible to be good at a thing and also cheat lol.

Look at Lebron faking fouls like he got hurt real bad when you can clearly see the footage of him not being touched at all. I guess we can just fall down on purpose to win matches now lol.

Look at Tiger woods having his fans go out there into the field to position his ball better. Saw em move a big boulder for him once. Are shovels allowed too? Can I make a lil stream and have it guide my ball to the hole???

Look at Brady that scum bag and his dirty coach with the whole deflate gate thing.

And aren't a ton of baseball players roided out?

But what do all these dirty cheaters have in common? They are actually pretty good when they are not cheating haha. So it's possible to be good AND a dirty cheater.

But I totally get what you're saying...

And since it's nube friendly cod of all things... This is just str8 up sad lol.

Good, no one who is actually good at a game needs to brag about their skill. Typically when you do that you're just trying to reassure yourself that you are not as bad as you actually are. However idiots like this are indicative of the larger problem and why I am so often against giving people money for something they can do themselves (play the exact same game and stream it for free).

The only time I have ever donated anything (or ever will) was to a streamer named Dartigan, who some may know from his 'gaming sins' videos. Someone who contributes to the gaming community by providing free content in a manner that most lack the time to be able to do. Jokers like this are a dime a dozen, many of which who use cheating software, which effectively rob you of both time and money by subscribing to a lie.

Moral of this rant?: Be careful of the dude bro (or non-professional) competitive streamers you give your money to. Many do not deserve it, and this guy along with many other cases that have risen (even outside of gameing like the dude who got caught pretending to be crippled) prove this all the time.

@Sorugue: I kind of disagree a lil... Take the famous boxer Ali. Yes this is boxing and not gaming, granted, but stick with me lol. He bragged like crazy about how good he was and well... He was basically THAT good lol.

I've seen the gamer streamer pro dude ninja brag a whole ton about his halo reach skills and honestly he's probably the best 1v1 snipes halo reach pro player I have ever seen or at least in the top 10. They guy is a giant hypocrite who says we should be nicer to each other online, meanwhile he's cussing at players 24 7 but oookay lol. The dude is a bit of a moron and a bit of a annoying dirt bag who clearly doesn't deserve all the money he's getting but still... He does brag and he is good lol. Shame he's not more like that one halo pro dude... What's his name... He looks like Gordan from that Gotham show lol. He's very good and has like hundreds of legit killionaires under his belt across multiple halo games. Dude is a beast. But does he brag like crazy? Nope... He's kool.

But I get what you're saying... And you're totally right about being careful who you donate money to. Although... That can be harder than one thinks lol. You could spend most of your life loving a person and donating money to them for decades only to one day learn that they are a murderer or a pedo or something messed up like that. Sigh... Life lol.
