Brink tops UK chart

First-person shooter Brink debuts at number one, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean charts at number two.

No Caption Provided Splash Damage's class-based shooter Brink has topped the UK chart, shrugging off some lukewarm reviews for at least its first week on sale. Brink, developed by London studio Splash Damage, earned a mixed critical reception, including a 6.0 review from GameSpot, which cited "technical deficiencies and design issues."

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, meanwhile, debuted at number two, just ahead of the release of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film in cinemas this week. The next-highest new entry in the chart was at 10: off-road racing title MX vs. ATV Alive, which hit the shops with a low retail price (£24.99). Publisher THQ's intention is to boost earnings from the game with postlaunch downloadable content.

Zumba Fitness fell from first to third place with just a 2 percent dip in sales, while Portal 2 fell to fourth with a 42 percent sales drop-off. Call of Duty: Black Ops dropped one place to number five, and Mortal Kombat slipped three places to six.

Brink didn't wow reviewers off of first play. I think it is one of those games that will get better with time. COD, BF2 and KZ3 will not lose any players to this but it will have a dedicated fanbase. If they plan a sequel I would be interested to see what they would do differently. It's basically a full game of Team Fortress so I would hope that they would not change much. The only gripe I have is the Matchmaking system.

Dear Gamespot reviewers: Given the highly variable reviews Brink has gotten, and the recent news regarding updates and technical patches, maybe it deserves a second look. Since PSN only came back on recently, it might be a perfect opportunity to run it again. Even Roger Ebert reviewed movies a second time if he felt he may have been unfair, or if the movie was reedited. Give it a try. No harm in being thorough.

Brink's online lag, Gamespot's number one problem with Brink is completely gone, and was never there on the PS3, and the AI problems don't matter because this is meant to be a competitive multiplayer game. Honestly, think before your next review, guys, or at least wait a bit.

I think its good, fun game, but for major problems, bugs etc its worth at least 7.5 or 8.0 /10.and i'm surprised that Portal 2 is just at 4th place.Personally i can't stop playing Portal 2 game when i turn on :) As for lego pirates of caribbean, its really fun game ,a must try i think,as all lego games to,they have something unique hehe :)

I'm more overjoyed that Just Dance 2 isn't in the top 10 anymore. Now if we can just kick off Zumba Fitness, we should be all fine and dandy.

Brink was actually good, I was surprised by how much fun it is. But there are a few technical issues that need to be fixed, lag mainly.
