The Bravely series proved to be one of the most impressive new IPs developed for Nintendo 3DS, and Square Enix will continue the saga with Bravely Default 2 on Nintendo Switch. Bravely Default 2 is set to release on February 26, and you can preorder the upcoming JRPG now at multiple retailers.

The only Bravely Default 2 preorder bonus we've seen so far is exclusive to Best Buy. If you order a physical copy at Best Buy, you'll receive a free placemat and coaster, both of which feature gorgeous artwork.

Despite its name, Bravely Default 2 is the third entry in the series. Bravely Default released in North America in 2014 and was followed up by Bravely Second: End Layer in 2016. Both games featured the same heroes and were set in the same world.

Bravely Default 2's story revolves around a new cast of characters. Your party consists of four heroes: Seth (sailor), Gloria (princess), Adele (mercenary), and Elvis (scholar). You'll travel through five kingdoms on a new continent dubbed Excillant. Not much has been revealed about the story so far, but we do know that it's unrelated to the earlier entries--you won't need to play its predecessors to enjoy Bravely Default 2.

However, those who played the Nintendo 3DS entries will find familiarity with the turn-based mechanics and overarching systems. Bravely Default 2 will have a robust job system, and you can learn new jobs by discovering Asterik bearers. The system will incentivize mastering jobs, as you can then set sub-classes to switch up your skills. Bravely Default 2 will also make use of the Brave Points combat mechanic, which allows you to strategically bank points to perform multiple actions with one character in a single turn.

Bravely Default 2's final demo is available to download from the Nintendo Switch eShop now. Square Enix has made tweaks to the full game based on fan feedback, and the studio plans to share those changes soon.
