Black Ops is UK's best-selling game ever - Report

I really don't understand people posting comments in here telling that they hate CoD : Black Ops. I mean why the hell are you even here on this new's? I bet you have Black Ops on one of your games. So stop saying that CoD : Black Ops sucks. 'Cause you even bought it in the first place, then gonna say it sucks. Sell it on ebay you guys if you hate it. You don't like Black Ops get the heck out of here. :)

I'd say stop the fanboyism. The consumer is the one who makes the choice at the end of the day, I have COD: MW, COD: MW2, COD: Black Ops, Battlefield BC and Battlefield BC 2, and I love them all. People seem to waste their breath arguing about what is better, but at the end of the day it's their choice to buy it or not. The people who look down on ones choice are the gaming snobs at the end of they day, a bit like the difference between a Windows and Mac user.

These CoD drones are mindless money supplies for Activision lol. How does it feel to keep buying the same game every year just with some different textures and sounds? Never seen a more gullible, clueless fan base, seriously. How does it make you feel that Activision is completely taking advantage of you and you're happily bending over for them, eh?

gamers buy both. lol Stop complaining, half of you people that say cod sucks wil end up getting it anyways, play for 40 hrs straight then get back on GS and tell everyone you dont play cod and think it sucks. I will be getting both, cant wait for BF / I also cant wait to see what goes on in mw3 story. and before any of you fanboys say ( but the story is unrealistic and dumb ) , does a games story have to be Realistic to be enjoyable. I have Black Ops. I do think it's good, but it's definitely not one of the best games I've played. There are better games out there. I used to love the CoD series, but it's gotten to a point where I actually do think it's a bit overrated. So many of the people who buy CoD are people who ONLY play CoD. In other words, they aren't into gaming that much, but they choose to play this once in a while with their friends or they are those CoD fanboys who refuse to buy any other game(I have decent amount of these people on my PSN friends list. I try talking them into getting another game, of any genre, and they are always like "That game is crap. CoD is better," when they know nothing about it.) If you like the game, then buy it. Play whatever you like. The only people who I truly do not understand are those who bought Black Ops just to play Zombies. That's just one game mode that is pointless and very repetitive, plus without buying DLC you can only play on two maps. Paying $60 for that? NOW THAT is a waste of money.

I love these debates on here especially the bf3 flamers and the cod flamers. We all know which is the best...Halo its got that militaryesque feel along with arcadey fps action its a hybrid that isnt a total sell out and doesn't come out with a game every year (with the exception of halo ce which is an update of a classic and halo 4 which isn't coming out until late 2012

I trust you Battlefield 3 ... I know you can do it...It's time to show Activision what a true game is supposed to be like.. BF3 FTW :)

Black Ops is a poor, poor game. Sound quality is attrocious, multiplayer is laughable (how could they take a cracking multiplayer engine from mw2 and screw it up this badly!?). They're living off the success of mw2. I'd be interested to see how many copies of bops have been traded in worldwide.

Bl'ops was my last last cod purchase, I won't be buying mw borefare 3 or any other cod game until they are dirt cheap and even then only if I have nothing to play. I have never played blops online, I play KZ3 multi-player instead & I thoroughly enjoy it. I now have no interest in cod at all, its so stale, let the casual gamers who don't know any better have it.

its impossible for MW3 to be the most selling game this year or nxt year...because there's just to many games that are virtually superior,,like BF3...Uncharted 3...Gears of War3... Ghost Recon Future Soldier..... heck, most gamers will be pretty occupied to play this sorry excuse of a game(MW3)...but most probably kids will buy this IF ITS NOT RATED M...ahahhahahahahah

MW3 will outsell BF3...it works much like the Apple situation, too many clueless fanboys make it almost unstoppable - until people realise just how bad it is. BF3 will undoubtedly be a far superior game, better value for money, and have better multiplayer support... its truly a shame the CoD fanboys are too busy worshipping there 2$H game to give BF3 a try. But on the plus side, it means less prepubescent teens squealing on xbox live. :)

I'm ashamed to be british, but then again we can't blame them as the dumb arse citizens of england loves Cheryl Cole and that crappy excuse for television show X-Factor. I'm not suprised this is number 1 in the UK, COD is just a fab like BEATS headset.

@espada_l unfortunately,as amazing as BF3 should be,it wont do anything to harm the sales of future Call of duty games,the prorder charts for both games clearly show that BF3 is behind,very very far behind.

I wonder how many of the people that will pay the subscription to CoD for its cheap retro-P2P hosting, are the kind of people that attack MMO's for using subscriptions to cover there staff, 24/7 maintenance, dedicated servers and future update costs. I hate fads, and CoD is the worst.

Best thing Activision can do now with all that profit made is to release a free DLC for the fans who have contributed to their record breaking feat-in my opinion. I have never bought a COD DLC and still don't think i will cuz i feel they've made enough money to relaese a free DLC (at least for the fans).

Interesting. I, for one, feel no need to get MW3 thanks to Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3. I will keep Black Ops for an occasional play but thats about it.

I really lol at the people sayin "HURR DURR COD BEZT EVUR...LONG LIVE COD *other random nonsense*" it wont live more than a year and a half more.....because ALL have seen what activision is willing to do....Implement pay to win bullcrap and reskin a dead horse of a game and sell it full price and score millions....That is just sad....

When China decides to attack us someday and we have to fight side by side, I'll feel safe knowing that Lord British will be there with a killstreak and Commando. Oh, what.. They removed that? Battlefield 3 will change that :) I won't buy MW3, I have to say that Black Ops has and probably will always be the worst game release, fortifying its spot of the worst game i've ever played.

Hehehe. I've always found it so amusing, to read all those anti-CoD comments on CoD articles, and then read about new records the games have broken. Not to even mention the fact that it's the most played game on Xbox Live, too. Every single week. I love it. People can keep saying whatever the hell they want. They can keep hating Activision and their franchise,and say some "COD Killer" is gonna appear soon. LOL. Then they'll go back to complaining when MW3 takes the crown for best selling game, and then next year Call of Duty 9 does so, too. See the pattern? Why pout about if it won't change the outcome? ;) Long live Call of Duty. Woooo.

The greatest thing about the Modern Warfare games is how the game pulls you into the story and you really get to like the characters and stuff (yea, I don't really care about FPS multiplayer...they're all the same...you run around and kill people...that's all...and yea it's people who play the multiplayer that are responsible for the success of the lesser COD games). I wasn't feeling the campaign with Black Ops so I stopped playing it. Definitely want Modern Warfare 3. Would sell most of my current games just to play as Soap McTavish again.

why shouldn't they milk it if the cod franchise is still selling....why should they stop if they "kill" every milestone in gaming history.......THEY should stop if we still buy their expansion packs at full prices? No , they shouldn't stop because it is our own damn fault for it's success, and we don't want more, we want the same old s***t because we still buy it.If we didn't we wouldn't want it .....

I mean MW2 had a better scale,story,weapons(obviously!!) it also had better multiplayer and maps but still people prefer Black-ops more, why?? Even killzone 3 is a technically better shooter...I think people are gone crazy as the top game on this weeks list is Zumba Fitness, WTF??(by the way is that even a game??, Nevermind)....

this is depressing, there are better titles out there which are more deserving of this title. Its even more depressing that we arent even getting a couple of months breather between games, every week there is some story about COD and its getting really old now. Youd think with the money they are making, Activision would turn themselves around and make new IPs but know, theyd rather be the evil corp milking the franchise to death and spend their money on court cases.

I'm sorry but CoD IS a good game. Technically its not the best (by far) but it always FEELS right and thats part of why people buy it. The other reason is hype. As more people come into the gaming world there are more people to buy games. If everyone has a certain game new players will buy that game to fit in. At this point CoD is more of an entity of the gaming world than an individual game and EVERYONE has it whether they like it or not. Sure there are games that SHOULD be better out there but everyone has played CoD enough that it can always feel like a home and thats what keeps people there.

Really Black Ops sold that much; its not even the best shooter, scratch that, best military shooter, let alone best game. I have frontline as the best military shooter, Halo 1 or 2 as the best fps, and any slew of games as best game of all time; yet this game sold the most. Then again the wii is one of the best selling console of this generation, but I doubt more than a handful of people will call it the best cosole showing that dollars does not equal quality or greatness.
